Ranga Rao Memorial School Opens Admissions for Visually Impaired Girls for 2026-27 Academic Session

Ranga Rao Memorial School for Differently Abled has opened admissions for the 2026-27 academic session for visually impaired girls across India. Established in 1988 by the NR Foundation, the free residential school in Mysuru provides education, boarding, healthcare, Braille learning, vocational training, and holistic development for economically disadvantaged students.

The admission process for the 2026-27 academic session has commenced at Ranga Rao Memorial School for Differently Abled, a free residential institution for visually impaired girls established by the NR Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the NR Group. The school has invited applications from visually impaired students across India, continuing its long-standing mission of empowering girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds through education, vocational training, and holistic development.

Established in 1988, Ranga Rao Memorial School for Differently Abled operates under the “Child-Centric Project” and receives support from the Department of the Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens, Karnataka State. The institution, which began with only two students, has grown into a major residential educational centre transforming the lives of hundreds of visually impaired girls over the last 37 years.

The school exclusively caters to visually challenged girls and currently has a student strength of 96. It remains the only institution in Karnataka dedicated exclusively to the education and residential care of visually impaired girls. Along with formal education from Grade 1 to Grade 10, the institution provides free lodging, boarding, healthcare facilities, and vocational support aimed at helping students lead independent and dignified lives.

Ranga Rao Memorial School follows the Karnataka State syllabus and uses the Braille learning system under the guidance of highly qualified teachers. The institution also focuses on technological advancement by providing computer education and basic digital training to students. In addition to academics, the school emphasizes all-round personality development through extracurricular activities including dance, yoga workshops, bird watching, singing competitions, self-defence training, martial arts sessions, vocational education, and exclusive tailoring courses for low-vision students.
